2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Presents Performance Carbon Fiber Wheels
With the launch of the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, automotive enthusiasts are starting to explore some of the fast aftermarket options available, including Dymag and Hankuk Carbon N Performance rims.
While some manufacturers use full carbon wheels, Hyundai's dynamic performance duo takes a different approach with hybrid carbon fiber wheels.
The wheels of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N are currently still in the prototype stage, but already seem to promise impressive weight savings. Wheel spokes are traditionally made from forged pieces of aluminum that are then bolted to a carbon fiber tube.
This of course gives the sensation of the strength and stiffness of forged aluminum combined with the lightness and stiffness of carbon fiber to maximize it.
Full specifications of the rims, such as actual offset and weight, are not yet available, but the 21-inch rims used at the Goodwood Festival of Speed are claimed to have a 40 to 50 percent weight saving over traditional aluminum rims.
According to Dymag, the Ioniq 5 N isn't the only N model to benefit from these carbon wheels. The hybrid carbon wheel option will reportedly be available soon for all vehicles with N Performance aftermarket support.
These rims are also made specifically for Hyundai. So don't expect to find a similar set for the Dark Horse Mustang Dymag. However, in the future, the company hopes to supply similar bikes to other OEMs.
The N Performance Display at Goodwood also at that time showcased several N Performance parts that will soon be seen on the Ioniq 5 N for drivers in the future.
Hyundai's own performance arm has a pair of steering wheels (one of which is wrapped in Alcantara), a pair of fire extinguishers, new fixed rear seats, as well as the big brakes and distractions that come with the Ioniq 5N.
